Peanut Butter Jelly Bars

Yields: 4 1/2 dozen bars 2'x1'

2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. sugar
1 (12 oz.) peanut butter morsels (2 c.), divided
3/4 c. red currant jelly

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. In a small bowl, combine flour and salt; set aside. In a large bowl, combine butter and sugar; beat until creamy. Gradually add flour mixture; beat until mixture forms fine crumbs. Reserve 1 cup crumb mixture; set aside. Press remaining mixture into greased 9x13x2 inch baking pan. Bake 10 minutes. In a small bowl, combine 1 cup peanut butter morsels and red currant jelly. Spread over baked base. Melt over hot (not boiling) water remaining 1 cup peanut butter morsels. Remove from heat. Stir in reserved crumb mixture. Sprinkle over peanut butter-jelly layer. Bake 15 to 18 minutes. Cool completely, cut into 2x1 inch bars.
